This is a GREAT guide to keep with your gear on the shore for quick reference after snorkeling or diving. Being laminated, it will stand up to years of wet and abuse (in fact, it seems to increase in value the more dog-eared it becomes!). Does it detail everything? No, of course not; I've got books and books and still can't find everything I've seen. But for a starter on-shore or in the boat it can help jog your memory and specify the difference in what you saw ("No, no... the dorsal fin was RED") so you haven't forgotten by the time you get back to your lodging and the references you will turn to AFTER YOU ARE DRY.
As a frequent snorkeler in the islands' shallows, this guide includes most of my friends in an easy-to-read format. Much more helpful than some of the other guides that don't distinguish the many tangs, butterfly fish and others.
This did not contain all the fish I've seen snorkeling in Hawaii.

Some things are not spelled correctly
MY wife and I went to Hawaii for our 25th wedding anniversary and having never snorkelled before we decided to buy this fish guide. We are glad we did. Snorkelling is a whole new world and this guide helps so much in knowing what you will find there. We highly recmmend it!
