For over seven years, Terryl worked for Lucasfilm Ltd., Industrial Light & Magic and George Lucas' JAK Films. Her unique combination of illustration skills and comprehensive knowledge of animal anatomy and movement are essential components in the design, anatomy and physical animation aspects of believable creature creation. In her work on Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, she worked directly with George Lucas for whom she designed countless creatures for the films and related products, including CD-ROMs. A collection of her work for Lucasfilm, The Wildlife of Star Wars: A Field Guide was published by Chronicle Books in 2001 to critical acclaim and popular success. Terryl also designed for many electronic and interactive games for leading publishers including Steven's Spielberg's The Dig, for LucasArts. Terryl has also worked with many major studios and effects houses as a highly sought after creature and concept designer. Clients include Industrial Light and Magic, Lucasfilm, Ltd., Pixar, Walt Disney Feature Animation, PDI, Entertainment Arts, LucasArts, Chronicle Books, and various zoos and natural history museums. Terryl is also the author of “The Katurran Odyssey”, volume one of a forthcoming series “The Katurran Trilogy”.  This book made my face light up. Packed in this 160-page book is a collection of new artwork from Terryl Whitlatch. You won't see any of her Star Wars creatures that appeared in The Wildlife of Star Wars - you should probably get that book as well.The gallery consist of paintings and sketches of real and imagined animals. The designs for the imaginative creatures are beautiful and believable. There are sea, land and flying creatures. Great variety.Many sketches are included, some picked from her art classes. For selected creatures, they are so detailed separate drawings on the muscular anatomy and bone structure are included. Scribbled on the sketches are labels and notes, though a bit small but only because there's so much packed onto the page.Besides creature concept art, there are also stylized character designs. Rocket rhinos, psychotic pandas, comical cerberus, cupid frogs are just some of the many animated ideas. They are really fun to look at.This isn't an instructional book so there aren't pointers on how to draw, but you can get lots of ideas or understand what's possible just by looking at the drawings.This inspiring book is highly recommended to anyone who loves animal art.-There's a hardcover edition available: Animals Real and Imagined: Fantasy of What Is and What Might Be-(There are more pictures of the book on my blog. Right when I saw this book I knew I needed to have it. However, due to personal experience I am weary about buying used books without feeling them first. But, like I said I NEEDED this book and like the impatient person I am I took the risk against my better judgment.I'm Glad I did.Not only did the book arrive way before I expected it to but the condition it came it was astonishing. Not only was it wrapped like it was a plate of gold but the book itself was in practically new condition. In fact, they could have put down that the book was new and I would have believed it.I absolutely wish I lived in California as I would take a trip and visit them in person to tell them how much I loved everything. I was hoping beyond hope that they were somewhere in my state so I could do so!And, not only that. But when I opened my book and glanced at my receipt, in the corner was a hand penned note that she hoped I was happy with my book. You have no idea!If I can give you any advice, if you ever order a used book online do so from these people. You will not be disappointed!As for the book itself it is a beautiful artist reference for creatures both real and imagined. Go figure. It is chocked full of colored/completed designs along with unfinished sketches detailing real animals, estranged creatures with cartoons/caricatures scattered here and there. I personally will be using it for reference and inspiration for my novels. But for artist I think it is in the 'must have' category. It is far from being extremely professional but it is beautifully defined and gives plenty of musculature and skeletal structures for all kinds of creatures -even humans. If you like imaginative bestiaries/reference books then give this one a once-over!

I've always been into the idea of mixing the features of difference animals to see what you get, so this is basically a whole book full of it. It starts off with some of Terryl's paintings of real creatures, then progresses more and more into her own creations. For the most part, the creatures are prehistoric in nature, but there are a few modern-day beasts represented. There are even some that are just straight up fantasy creatures. The last section of the book covers some of her animated characters and that's not really my cup o' tea. It's my only knock on the book. It seems out of place. If you're looking for background info on why she mixed this animal with that or whatever, you won't get it. And who cares, really? I don't need to know why she put ram horns on a gorilla, it just looks cool. I wish I had the hardback version because of the "widescreen" format of the book, but it is still an extremely high quality book. In fact, I would say it's one of the best printing jobs I've ever seen in an art book. The whites of the pages have a sort of matte finish to them, while the images themselves are printed glossy. It's hard to describe, but it looks excellent. it makes the images really pop off the page. I highly recommend this for anyone into dinosaurs and creature design.

In the interest of full disclosure; I was a supporter of the Accursed Kickstarter but I am in no way affiliated with Melior Via nor have I received any compensation for this review.The Accursed setting is one of those rare products where everything comes together in just the right way to create something new and exciting.The creative team behind Accursed clearly cares about the setting and has taken the time to really give it a life all its own; much like one of the Crone’s lumbering creations!In Accursed, players take on the role of a Witchmarked, a once-human monster whose sins include helping a group of archetypal Witches, however unwillingly, to defeat the Armies of Light. The Witchmarked (or Accursed) come in several varieties; one type for each Witch. The various types are mostly culled from classic monster movies and the Accursed design team has done a wonderful job at making each fit perfectly within the setting while still maintaining that classic feel.Accursed has been compared to a combination of Van Helsing, Castlevania, and Ravenloft, with its own sense of flavor added to the mix. While I find this comparisons to be both accurate and informative, I believe it lacks one crucial piece of information. One of the most interesting elements of the Accursed setting is the current state of Morden (the collection of nations which make up the setting) and the heroes who rail against that state, despite being hated and persecuted from all sides. These two elements give Accursed its own life and feel; one which I believe to be both unique and haunting.As I noted above, Morden’s Armies of Light no longer fight against the Witch’s Grand Coven, for that struggle is long over. Unlike most fairy tales, in Morden, the forces of Light lost the war and the Witches now rule the lands as all-powerful dictators. As fate would have it, the only remaining resistance to the Witches’ rule are the Witchmarked, cast off remnants of the Witches invasion force.Which brings us to my favorite element of Accursed; the heroes! The only warriors left who possess the power to fight the Witches, even in secret, are the former human inhabitants of Morden who were cursed and pressed into service against their neighbors. Many of the Witchmarked were released at the conclusion of the Bane War (the war between the Grand Coven and Morden’s Army of Light) and left to their own devices. After finding they had no place left to call home, many of the Witchmarked took up the struggle against their former masters. They do this despite being feared and hated by the very humans they seek to protect. They do this despite having little hope of success. Mostly, they do this to save their lost souls, repent their unforgivable sins and because they are the only ones who can!

This setting is fantastically atmospheric, and really brings to life the sorts of worlds you might see in the likes of Solomon Kane, Van Helsing or Season of the Witch. The setting is easily accessible for GMs, which is a great help as it means the world can near-instantly be realised for writing scenarios and bringing the right atmosphere to the gaming table.If I had any kind of criticism of the product, it's that I would have preferred slightly more artwork, whether as little filler pieces or perhaps an extra localised map or two. Overall though, for someone that enjoys dark fantasy settings you will certainly not be disappointed.(Note: I helped fund this on Kickstarter and it was satisfying to see it through to completion)

I live in Nevada so I don't get to see the ocean or any lighthouses. I have always had a fascination about lighthouses and their history. This book is an excellent collection of photographs and historical information. I am so motivated to plan a trip to New England to see these beautiful and majestic sights. I originally took this book out from my local library but I just had to have my own copy. Unlike some historical books, the author does not bog you down with information that is boring or too technical. It paints a beautiful picture of the New England coastline and is a great guide for planning a trip to seeing these magnificent lighthouses in person.

Although this book has short paragraphs discussing individual lighthouses, its strength is in its strong overview of general US lighthouse history with an emphasis on New England. Contains many good quality color photographs. I would recommend this book. My only criticism is that I want more indepth information about specific lights and locating that information requires considerable page flipping within this volume.For more detailed information about specific lights see the editions by Snow and D'Entremont.

It came in as advertised, a little worn on the cover but other wise in very good condition. The photographs on the pages were awesome and the articles were very good. I have no problem with this book or the seller. I would recommend this book or the seller too anyone.

Great stories throughout, and you will learn quite a bit about lighthouses in general. Nice photography as well, and there is a guide to lighthouses across the country in the back of the book. Very nice!!

For those who are eating Paleo or gluten free or if you are someone who just loves new and exciting ways of preparing vegetables, this IS the book for you! Stephanie Shaw has written and published a true gem with Spiralizer recipe book, spiralizer recipes for weight loss, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and so much more! The recipes are easy to follow and of those I have been able to try thus far, are delicious. I suggest the Butternut Squash Pasta and the Sweet Potato with Green Curry which uses two of my favorite flavors; curry and coconut. She has even created a Vegan Alfredo Pasta that uses zucchini as the “pasta”, YUM! Using the spiralizer is easy and allows you to create wonderful meals that everyone can enjoy. Make sure you get yourself a copy and be sure to gift one to someone who likes to eat! * I did receive a copy of this book for an honest review *

Because I had expressed my interest, I was sent this book by the author so I could give my opinion.I'm so glad I had the opportunity to check it out because it has a lot of wonderful recipes for using my new Spiralizer. This is my second Spiralizer recipe book. What delineates this book is the categorization of recipes to address various health concerns such as Anti-Inflammation, Heart Health, Anti-Aging, Radiant Skin and Weight Loss and also a section of recipes that children would love. Each recipe includes counts for Calories, Carbohydrates, Protein, Fat, Sodium & Fiber.Another thing I like about the recipes is that they have managable numbers of ingredients and don't require lots of steps. There are some really lovely combinations of ingredients that really appeal to me. While trying to eat healthy, I don't want to give up flavor!I'm very glad to have this book and highly recommend it!

Don't waste your time or money on this book. The recipes are unimaginative, and other than the cover there are NO photos (and there is no recipe for the cover dish in the book). It's divided into categories like radiant skin, heart health, and so on, but doesn't offer any support for why the few recipes in each belong in that category. The anti-inflammation section is filled with red meat and dairy. The book is riddled with typos and printing errors. The author should be ashamed of herself.

I just got this cookbook, Looking through this book I was not totally impressed.I found the recipes have lots of carbohydrates,even though they are not wheat products.I am more on a paleo/keto diet individual. I would send it back but because it is fairly not expensive.I will scan through the cookbook and pick and choose those I would like to try.

Good recipes and good food. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in great eating. Please enjoy the culinary delights.

I have been debating whether or not to buy a spiralizer. I have been wanting to try it but hesitant to spend money without knowing any good recipes. I am convinced that I need one of these. I can't wait to get to town and buy one. Most of the recipes have items I normally have on hand with some that are new to me.

The recipes in this book are not nutritiously sound. The author is not a dietician. Most of the recipes can be found on the internet or are derived from basic cooking skills. I did find anything unique in this book. I would not purchase this book for weight loss, anti-aging, or anti-inflammatory​ education.

I adore Workman's 365 Cats Page-A-Day Calendar. I've been buying it since the photos were in black and white. The stories underneath each cat(s) are more in depth than ever, and I adore the pithy sayings attributed to both famous and unknown folks. I wouldn't be without this calendar. My boyfriend adores it, too. And we recycle the papers by using them for grocery lists and notes. The cats are the stars, though, and I can't imagine not buying next year's calendar.

My sister loves this desk calendar and gets it every year. She just discovered that there are 2 weeks missing for this month, Oct. 2 through 15. Instead of pages for these dates in Oct., there were pages that repeated the last 2 weeks of Sept. If we had discovered this when we bought it last year, we would have returned it for a new one (and would have checked that the replacement had all the pages). She still loves the calendar, but will be sure to check 2019's calendar. I deducted a star for the missing pages.

Great Calendar but this is the second year in a row the stack of pages fell off the red plastic backing! It seems the glue is different than in years past. I have purchased this calendar for many years now and they are not as sturdy as they used to be! Go back to the old glue.

my wife and I love cats. we have three that we care for. We've always enjoyed having Cat Calendars in the house. This style 365 Cats Page-A-Day is well worth the money. We both love the information they provide on each days cat calendar day. the tidbits often tell about the type of cat or the name of the cat and where they are from. It's a joy to see beautiful animals everyday. Quite often we save the different pages in a scrapbook, so the value of the images is cherished for years to come.

This is a very fun calendar. The photos are sent in by viewers, so the quality of each image varies. The paper is not the best, and the printing is not the best, but it is a good value for the price. There are other daily calendars with higher quality images printed on higher quality paper. And I like how it is printed single sided, so I can reuse the pages as scrap paper.

I give out a few of these calendars to my cat-friendly relatives and friends. The calendar includes a plastic base that snaps into an angled viewing position. It's always fun to tear off yesterday's page and see today's cat. Our daughter, a school bus driver, hands out the day's cat to a lucky kid on the bus. The only suggestion I have for Workman would be to have one cat for each day of the year, instead of weekend pages with two cats.

I am a grown, adult person but last year my parents gave me this for Christmas. I put it in my classroom for lack of a better place to keep it. Well, my high school physics students love it, and we all oooo and awww over the adorable cats each day. It has become A Thing in my classroom and I'll be buying a new one each year from now on.

I buy this desk Calendar each year as a gift for a relative at Christmas. She loves it. The photos are adorable. Let’s you enjoy kitties without the hassle of a litter box and clawed furniture! 😉

Buyer beware! If you buy the kindle version, the only color picture is the front cover. From reading the reviews I was led to believe that there were at least 15 of the pictures represented in color on the cover. Perhaps the inside cover or back? Well they did not show these on the kindle version. From just looking at the black and white pictures, it is nearly impossible to know what color goes where. I wish I had not wasted my money on this book.

I like to do illuminations but I'm always looking for fresh ideas. This book is a great source of inspiration for new ideas.

These are what I would call a bit advanced because of all the pieces. Very nice book.

good patterns but really small imo for these detailed images. Some patterns are not quite complete if you look closely enough.
