When I open my package I was shocked in a good way on how cute this pocket type book was. My nineteen-year-old will truly enjoy it and my forty-three-year-old husband was jealous that I didn't get him one. I would just like to have one to put in the bathroom for people to read it is too darn cute with size and it being a hard back. The recipes inside are also very nice and very doable for anyone
I just received my book the other day and was so excited to see how perfect it was for my husband. He recently showed a hint of interest in the kitchen and I was not about to let the opportunity slide. This book is exactly what he needed - it is pocket sized, black, and not frilly at all. The recipes are not intimidating and are all the kinds of things that my husband loves to eat. He actually made us the pan-fried steak and bacon mashed potatoes from it last night (even doing his own grocery shopping for it) and was so proud of himself (and it was really good)!! Love it! And what guy could resist bacon with brownies... or beer in chili? Oh, and make sure not to miss the Introduction page...hysterical.
I ordered three of these - one each for two of my brothers and one for my husband. These are really fun cookbooks! I only gave 4 stars because, in this case, size matters. While this is a GREAT compact book, it is a little small, even for me (and I don't mind small print). If you have a recipient who needs larger print, this is not the book for them. However, small size aside, this cookbook is full of wonderful recipes that are right up a man's alley. There are even a few recipes I am interested in trying myself! This is not for brand new cooks, but it's not filled with recipes that are too difficult for the occassional cook. I would highly recommend getting this for the man in your life! It's a quirky, fun book filled with great recipes that are sure to please.
Before reading this book, I thought microwaved hot dogs were the gourmet way to a woman's heart: boy was I wrong! Men, listen up, this book has everything you need to know to turn a saucy dinner into a saucy night. I use to think nothing could be better than IHOP and Denny's, but now I see that nothing can be better than home cooked chocolate chip pancakes. And I used to think it couldn't get better than Burger King until I followed the hamburger recipe in this book. Two works: WOWIE ZOWIE! After using this book, my wife cannot get enough of my spaghetti and meatballs, followed with a milkshake for dessert.
I have known my way around a kitchen for quite some time now. Being the oldest of three, I was a fall back cook when mom and dad had there hands full with my siblings, work or other household things. Even though I already know a few things about cooking and have tweaked a recipe or two, I enjoyed reading through some of the recipes the author considers to be essential to a male's cooking repertoire. All in all, this is really good for someone, women included, to have if they have little to no cooking experience.
I bought this for my boyfriend. He hasn’t had much experience with cooking. I actually use this a lot also. It has so many great recipes in it for simple things! Love it!!
Was hoping for more than 'basic' recipes. Was neat for a somewhat gag gift though.
It was a small gift that I got for my boyfriend a while back. He's made a couple of things from it and it's the only cookbook he has in his kitchen (he tends to misplace things, so this is quite impressive) - I guess that's a good sign.I asked him and he said "yeah, it's good." Probably nothing special, he'll still use supercook recipes more often but I think it was a good gift and he seems to think it was worth my money.
