The problem with this book is it is recommended for kindergarten through second grade, but one one page the author describes "murder holes" on the castles where occupants would pour out boiling water or scalding sand onto approaching possibly invaders. There is also a description of the dungeons where one can only enter through a trap door. "Murder" is really not a vocabulary word I want for my 5 year old. Usually, we enjoy the fun and quirky fly guy books.
Book is more of an education books of facts of castles instead of a story. Love the fly guy stories, but myself, along with my grandkids didn't enjoy. They cut me off after reading 3 or 4 pages to read a different book.
I bought this book for my 6 year old daughter and she loves it. She loves fly guy books. I didn't realize until recently that they have these "Fly Guy Presents" books. I like that they're actually teaching the kids about something while they're reading. I will be buying more!
My 7 year old has been reading Fly Guy for years. He loves all the books. I jumped at the chance to get this book because he's also into knights and castles. He totally loves it.
The author is trying to be educational and it doesn't work. My son (5 yo) grew bored very quickly and while I tried to keep going then I got bored. The regular books are great but this not so much.
