Despite the title of the product this book, in e format, does not contain a MindTap Acess code. Which was the whole reason I wanted to buy the book. Waste of $130, which I am having refunded. If you just need the code, get it from MindTap, this will put me behind in my class.

This book is probably long out of print by now but it was a decent book that explained the concepts of business communication. I believe it was an edition behind the one we used in class, but the information was still largely relevant.

I would say that the book comes in great condition. It is the exact version that is stated, comes in perfect condition, it's a hard back. There really isnt much else to say, it's perfect and affordable.

I'm happy that I received the book earlier than expected!The outside cover appeared as pictured, but the pages looked like someone made a black & white photo-copy of the book and bound it together. All the same material is there but it is lacking color and the text us a bit blurry. It was relatively cheap, so I suppose I got what I paid for.

As a college business communication instructor and corporate writing consultant of 20+ years, I feel my career is about to take a quantum leap forward with my discovery of this magnificent compendium of materials. Mary Ellen Guffey has done ALL the hard work! Juicy, readable text: done. Riveting "inside" information on cool corporations: done. Web-based support? Manuals? PowerPoints? Videos? Done. Fresh writing prompts, some packaged with the research already done? Done. With my old text, I've been drowning in an attempt to supplement and update and enrich the dated material enough to keep it relevant and arresting. Now I'm finding that I have plenty of time to interact with students over their own writing and presentations. I've always felt one-on-one and small-group interaction to be a huge part of my mission as a classroom teacher. Thanks to Mary Ellen Guffey, I'm able to do more of it, while spending less time overall on take-home work. Thank you, Mary Ellen, from the trenches--not just for a marvelous tool, but for a whole toolbox full of them.

This textbook is expensive. I think the price is absurd.However, the information contained is worthwhile. Guffey could have condensed a lot of material.Things that work in the book's favor are the checklists at the end of sections and a summary of the chapter. Small useful side menus abbreviating useful terminology or steps are littered through out the book; and they are worthwhile to review and use.Condense the text and make it more affordable. I say to Guffey stop aiding Publishers the in grifting of student's pockets.

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. The main characters were all interesting and I was hopeful for the ending and it did not disappoint. Toward the end I found myself not wanting it to end quite yet and to me that is one of many things that make a good book. I felt sad for Eddie because it was like he was treading water like crazy but going to drown anyway, yet he was still trying to survive. I won't spoil the ending but even with what happened to him, I liked the ending because I think he was going to become a different person and still have his family. Of course this would happen because Grace became a different person. I loved the descriptions of Grace's gardens because I could feel the cool shade and appreciate the beauty from the descriptions and I would find myself wandering around in the kitchen after reading about the lunches Grace would put together! All in all, a really good read for me.

Summer in Nantucket brings out the best and the worst in the residents.Grace and Eddie Pancik are an acknowledged "power couple." He, with his real estate/construction business and Grace with her gardening business, their names are on everyone's lips that particular summer.Madeline Llewelyn is Grace's best friend. Filled with juicy gossip and a whole lot of scandal, this is a must have bead read! How I let this author slip by on my radar is downright horrendous. I want to grab all of her books and nestle them on my bookshelf. I want to pack them all up, go to Nantucket for the week, and read them all one by one. I feel like I have been missing so much by not reading them and am slapping myself because of it. If you are a fan of women's fiction and love novels that are downright scandalous then this is a must read! I am so glad I grabbed a copy when it was on sale because I am now an instant fan.Elin Hilderbrand does a wonderful job at bringing her characters to life. This book is told in 4 point of views (don't worry, it's easy to follow and will not confuse you) and allows us insight into every juicy detail. We have Grace, mother of twin teens, who may or may not be having a fling with her gardener. The we have Madeline, mother of one, and author who is having a hard time coming up with her next novel in time for the deadline. Madeline may or may not be writing a book about a close friend- sharing a shameful secret in the process. Next is Eddie. He is Grace's husband. He is living the high life in Nantucket only, his funds are quickly dwindling. Good thing he found a way to get more money... Only, it may be quite illegal. Finally we have Hope. She is one of Grace's twin daughters. She's a high school student, book nerd, and polar opposite of her twin sister Allegra. She would rather read a book than deal with drama, especially after what happened between her and a school mate, but she can't seem to stay out of the drama! What happens between everyone involved in this book is quite scintillating and you aren't going to want to miss out on what happens with each person!If you are looking for the perfect summer book, Elin Hilderbrand is clearly a must have author! I am going to be grabbing all her other books because I know she is worthy of a BIG binge read this summer! I highly recommend this one. It's a whole lot of fun and shouldn't be missed!

I needed a novel that didn't require too much thinking or looking up words. The Rumor met those needs, but it wasn't long before I was skipping pages of the book to get it to move along. The book has no foreshadowing, no suspense - nothing difficult to sort out or make you think even a little bit. It was truly vacuous. I was hoping for something with a little more depth. The book has a surprising number of trashy people.

I had read Barefoot quite a few years ago and just loved it. So I'm not sure why its taken me so long to read a second novel by Hilderbrand. But the good news is that I now have so many to catch up on!I really enjoyed this one. The characters were realistic and believeable. I loved the setting of Nantucket, especially since Mass. is my native state. I got engrossed in the story from the first chapter. Excellent writing, wonderful characters, great description of places and I could visualize them easily in my mind. The story had a satisfying ending and I'm so glad I rediscovered Hilderbrand!I'm now reading her first novel, The Beach Club, AND I'm listening to the audio version of The Love Season. I'm loving both as much as this one. I see some contented reading ahead for myself.

Repetative. Unlikable protagonists. 2 stars because I skimmed through to the end, but it took awhile, had to keep putting it down because the characters kept doing ridiculous things. "We have to leave, there's something horrible happening in this house! " 10 minutes later, some character - "This house is fine, I'm very comfortable here." Ugh.

The premise for this book is good, but the way the story is told makes it tedious reading. The author tells the story of the strange happenings at Kim and Julian's new house through Kim's thoughts. The author tells the reader what Kim is thinking, page after page after page, over and over and over. Occasionally something happens. Kim screams, husband Julian comes running, and Julian explains it away with logic. He doesn't believe her, so eventually she stops telling him things. Then one day Kim freaks out and wants to leave. He agrees to take her away from the house so they can discuss it. Of course, the car won't start. Instead of calling for help, they stay in the house, have dinner, watch a movie, and fall asleep on the couch. When she awakens in the middle of the night, she starts wandering through the house. Really? Spoiler alert: The bad thing is upstairs. Julian awakes to Kim's screaming and finds her unquestionably dead in a closet. He goes downstairs to get the phone to call for help, but when he gets back upstairs, the body is gone. At this point, he hangs up on the dispatcher. Again, really?! The rest of the story involves Julian's thoughts, page after page after page, as he searches for his wife. Is she alive? Dead? At no point does he try to leave or get help from the authorities. The ending is predictable. These characters are unsympathetic and not very smart. Things happened that were supposed to be scary, but they just made me laugh. This book is poorly written and ridiculous.

The writer does a very good job building suspense,but then does little with it. My first question is, why are these two people, the main characters, married? They don't seem to particularly like each other. She refers to him as a bully, and he is very condescending toward her. How could the old man possibly be an apparition? He drives a pickup. What is the signifigance of the white masks? They're mentioned several times. What, exactly, was Dakota's baby, and where did it come from? Why is Dakota always naked? There are too many loose ends--I kept reading, almost all night, and got very few answers. There are some very poignant moments, however, when the old couple are waiting for their 'child' to come home. The writer shines in those scenes. It is too bad the main characters weren"t more likable--their lack of a personal connection with each other detracts from the story.

Although I read a lot I rarely write reviews. A book has to be really good or really bad to prompt me to write a review. This book was REALLY GOOD. Scary without being gory. Very scary as a matter of fact. I told my husband I would never read it if he was going to be out of town. The only thing I can say that might be construed as a negative is the author's use of some words which, in some cases, I do not feel were used correctly in the sentences they appeared and in other cases I felt they did not flow with the rest of the writing style. However, this did not prevent my overall enjoyment of the book nor would it prevent me from reading other books by this author.

One of the best in the horror genre that I've read in quite a long time. I'm rather a veteran of the genre, and it takes a lot to spook me. This one certainly did. I have some minor quibbles with the main characters - I would have preferred to like them more, greater pathos. Regardless ... Excellent read!

The concept is good and interesting but the plot was not well de developed it listed the trail at some points and the end felt hurried, there are some details that are not answered.

I enjoyed getting to know the characters, and the supernatural twist. I don't really enjoy malformed creatures in books. It is hard to picture them in my mind.

Some scarry parts worth reading. I would have liked it to move faster, but it really painted an eerie picture!

This book has some good points for your business, but aren't the most novel, mind-blowing ideas. Like all her other materials, she tells stories and can be long-winded. If you want excellent online education, I recommend to invest in the Creative Live courses than buying her stuff. They do a better job of teaching you the fundamentals of running a business, and their videos and e-learning format is SO much user-friendly.BTW: In case any of you are out there and thinking of buying her other marketing tutorials, they are NOT worth it. She repeats herself, and it feels like deja vu. Only 10% of what she says is helpful and 90% of it is fluff again. Her website is also clunky and outdated, and looks like from the 90s.

Keep reading and Ill tell you more.. at the end doesnt tell you much.Except that "you can do it."The book is very short.I think is not worth the money, so keep your pennies.Sing up for the free webminars in her webpge, and you'll get the same info the book has. And dont believe when she says that the book has more info ;).

This book is well worth reading, but at times seems to go on and on. The beginning chapters are very inspiring and I thought I lucked on to a real treasure here. But if you have read other marketing books then you will not find anything new, but many of the ideas are worth repeating and remind you of things you should be doing (we all tend to drift in our marketing so it is nice to be brought back on track)Sarah Petty has an excellent photography business and I wish she had spent more time talking about that. She comments on every business from cookie making, to florists, to book selling even to construction.I read this on my Kindle and I'm not sure whose idea it was but some of the type is not black but a very light gray, almost impossible to read on Kindle's almost as light gray background.Basically this book in a sentence: "treat your customers great, present a clean clear unique image, give a quality product, set up a database, and never compromise your brand with cheap advertising or sales.

So, yes this is basic BUT I find myself coming back to it over and over again. I am a behavior analyst and have used it to help me formulate my thoughts on my consulting business as well as when we are working on our educational program design. Maybe because I am so 'left brain' this book seems super valuable to me where as it is perhaps more intuitive to the right brainers :) For me it is about reminding me to think like a 'boutique business'.

The first thing I learned from this book is that being a "boutique" business is not about what you sell. Instead, "being boutique" is about how you operate...its' a model of doing business, a filter for your business decisions, and a mind-set that makes your customers say you were worth every penny.The authors of this book believe you can beat your competition by catering to the niches, not to the masses. Businesses that compete on price can't invade your territory. When you're a boutique business, you're the expert, you're the personal consultant and you're the teacher.I think the boutique business model is a perfect fit for many small business owners. The authors of this book provide details and share case studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of their way of doing business.I found this book to be informative and entertaining. There are "Action Steps" at the end of each chapter that will help you apply the techniques in the book to your own business.You really are worth every penny. Read this book and you will never discount your products or services again.Highly Recommended.

im a sarah petty and the joy of marketing fan, so when i heard she was writing a book i assumed it wouldn't be thesame information that you can get for basically free on her website, blog and by listening to their sometimes free webinars.this "book" was VERY short. i wouldn't even say it was a book, it would have better been served as a PDF for sale on herwebsite. all info was very entry level. i was hoping by sarah petty putting hte time and effort into marketing and writinga book, it would be more detailed.great for those who know nothing about business and pricing themselves accordingly though.

I really like this book. I wish Sarah would write a book on fine art photography that could help me get some clients. It seems that I picked a really hard form of photography to make a living at. I photograph every day people really like my work but no sales since Jan 2016. Any suggestions would help. Thanks in advance Timothy Tindall

If you've ever participated in any of Sarah Petty's events, you have all the information from this book. There was nothing really new, nothing specific, and the book felt like a written infomercial. Nothing was really given for anyone just starting out and/or trying to find clients. It was a lot of bragging about what she has done to achieve her success and inspirational "You can do this", but no real useful information on HOW to do it.

One of the things I love about Lauren Conrad is her classic, elegant, yet chic style. Watching "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills" as a teenager, I grew up liking L.C and her fashion sense. I was so excited about this book, and Amazon has an amazing (and cheaper) price than most retail/bookstores. The book did not disappoint- if I could buy enough books for all my girlfriends I totally would. This book is a great gift, treat, and personal staple for anyone even remotely interested in the fashion industry, or just the ladies who want in on L.C style tips. I love that this book has two angles, Lauren's personal lifestyle & tips, while at the same time, it includes a lot of classic/helpful information from other sources (such as her styling crew, and other tips she's learned from designers/makeup artists). A lot of the content in this book is also similar to plenty of classic and timeless tips you would get from Teen Vogue, Lucky Mag, and People's Style Watch (which is great, you get a big magazine with helpful tips in one book). The book is overall great- it involves many categories, such as: 1. Shopping tips 2. Closet organizing 3. Makeup 4. Hair 5. Basics every girl/woman should own 6. How to shop/dress for your body shape. 7. Accessories and more!

I've been a fan of Lauren Conrad ever since her Laguna Beach and The Hills days and have always loved her chic style. I considered purchasing this book years ago when it first came out but didn't because I had my own style and was fine with it. Now, oddly enough, I'm in my mid-thirties and a mother of twin toddlers and I realize I am not part of the target audience for this book. However, lately I've become more interested in learning more makeup and style tips because it's fun!Lauren Conrad Style is a well-written style guide that contains many aspects dealing with fashion. This book is divided into three parts: Fashion, Beauty, and Lifestyle. Within each part are chapters devoted to different categories within those topics, such as "Building Your Wardrobe" and "Accessories" in Fashion, "Makeup" and "Hair" in Beauty, and "Work and School" and "Events and Parties" in Lifestyle. There is information in this book that tells you how to use the same clothes and make it into various outfits using different accessories, dressing for your body type, and how to do your hair and makeup. Personally, I enjoyed the sections on makeup and hair the most since I am looking for fun tips so I can have fun doing my hair and makeup (when I actually have the energy for this since my twins keep me pretty busy). There are a lot of expensive labels and stores mentioned, which may not be possible for some readers to buy and shop at, but it's nice to see pictures of Lauren Conrad in her stylish clothes so you can go to a store of your choosing and find something similar.Overall, I like this book and have learned several things from it. One thing to note is that Lauren Conrad also has a book called Lauren Conrad Beauty, which I have as well. Beauty contains much more specific information on hair and makeup whereas Style gives more of an overview so if you are more interested in the hair and/or makeup aspects, I would purchase Beauty. I would say this book is geared more towards teenage girls and women in their twenties but there is nothing wrong with women older than this buying this book! If anything, I can learn some tips from it to pass on to my daughter when she reaches the teenage years and she can read this as well. The price point is certainly well-worth it and there is a lot of information within the 230 pages of this book so I'd definitely recommend this book to fans of Lauren Conrad or anyone who wants more tips on fashion!

This book has some great beauty and health tips. There are many high glossy photos, but maybe too many as it takes up too much space that could be used for more style tips, etc. Some of the tips are already well-known (my opinion), but plenty are new or I should say new to me. I really like her sense of style and I genuinely like her as a person. She is not fake and comes across as a down to earth kind of gal.

Using this as a "coffee table book"

Please don't buy this book expecting something deep...it's title describes it perfectly- it's about style and how to aquire your own personal style. It was a fun and light read. Lauren has a real grasp on her personal style and was able to share how to personalize your closet quite well. I enjoyed this book and recommend it for those who enjoy this type of subject!

The Fame Game by Lauren Conrad is a cute, funny, and also a dramatic story. It is also a very easy book to read.

I love Lauren Conrad. I watched her on the Laguna Beach and The Hills. I fell in love with Lauren because of her personality and style.I love the formatting of her book and learned some new style tips by reading her book. She covers style from casual to special event which nice. I would recommend this book if you need help with your personal style.

Love Lauren Conrad and her advice in this book is great! Mainly bought this as a coffee table book but the info inside was pleasantly decent.

I am a Debbie Macomber fan and have read numerous books of hers. She's written some of my favorites and her writing has developed through the years with more complex character development. Sadly, this is not one of them. There's an unfortunate trend in publishing where they repackage an author's previously published works to generate more sales. Case in point: this book is copyrighted 1997. And it shows. It is outdated, which I find lazy if you're repurposing the book (taxi drivers take debit cards, who doesn't have a cell phone, etc.) And the main characters are unsympathetic and come across as whiny, the female has a victim mentality, and are downright unlikable.Some books are better left in 1997. This is one of them. Wish I could get my money back.

I give this at least a 4.5 on the star scale and I admit to liking Debbie MacComber's writing a great deal.I did find this one a refreshing and very realistic look at the dating scene today as opposed to years ago before the dating services. Most of the blind dates in this book could have described my experiences and even some of the dating service ones could also have been mine 40 years ago. SO, take heart kids, your life experiences are, it seems, are pretty much in line with the generations before you: even with the expensive services promising you everything you want in a partner.I like the best friend aspect of this story and the fact that they really do make both the best husbands and the father's. Usually, if you have to be anyone other than yourself with your date, I'd say you are already in trouble. Because at some point you will have to revert to who you really are and usually the surprise to your partner will not be a good one.I say read, laugh, enjoy and aborb the truth of this one.

I really enjoyed this story, but it took almost up to the last 3 chapters for me to realise that I had read this story a long time ago. It wasreally sure when Steve was taking his kids and their friends to the drive in movie. That has to happen I guess in time, when I have readover 3,000 books at least since 1998. It might even be more then that I would have to think about that go over the list I have of all theBooks I bought from CBD book distributors, since 1998, and from Harlequin's Love Inspired Books. I am hooked on reading and it sureis a lot more satisfying than the trash they have on T V these days.

This book was interesting, Sad for me to say but it didn't stick with me as most of her other books do.. but it has been awhile since I read this book :) ... Debbie Macomber, is another of the inspired writers to get involved with her books ..She has so many to mention by name but each one is full of adventure ,Love,and a determined woman who will find her man and her piece of Happily ever after..this woman 's books also shout out ...READ, READ, READ..I LOVE her books.

I enjoyed this book, as I always enjoy Debbie Macomber. I call her books the “feel good” books. I can actually picture the characters and places. Very relaxing for me.

Well, what's there to say. Not very original. Every cliché there is in the book are in this book. First of all, who gets up one morning and decide to get married within 1 year. My guess is if this book would have been 75 pages shorter it would go down easier. The plot is so cliché, the author give the reader a heads up two pages before the punch line. I think this was a hit and miss book.One good think, the blind dates are very funny. Read something else.
